Post the 2nd image in the terrain forum, see what others think.

Only issue I see is that the strat objects will get ove run once a country looses a few fields.

HiTEch

Any suggestions no requiring massive shifting of fields
I currently have the 163 bases at 44, 62 and 102. I did that to keep the 163s to the point where they can only be effective for defending hq. Now i am thinking about moving them to a more centrally located base. I have mountain ranges protecting the strats from sea based bombardment, as do some fields that are close to shore. Though its a small map, i tried to make base's reasonably difficult to take, with it getting progressively harder the farther into each countries heartland you go. The spawn points compared to most maps in rotation have been cleared of vegetation with small hills and the like added as replacement. I tried to keep the bases close together so one ought not have to fly more then 1 sector to find a fight, and attempted to recreate some of the major spawn battles of AH2.

I see a lot of good fights around those strays!

Should be some intense sea battles as well, great placement on the ports. Seems that a CV commander would have to sneak his fleet past a while host of trouble to gain the outer positions.

I don’t see the center bit being used by heavies and I think it will mimic the old dueling arena in the air and on the land.

Excellent looking map, Chui.

My only issue is the use of the super large airfields. Those things are such a frame rate killer for most players, it makes those areas nearly unplayable.

The extra large fields are in places where I do no expect to many fights. They are astride the strats in the interior.

It looks pretty good and I like seeing the gv spawns.
I don't know if you did this on purpose so I can only hope this is helpful.

V14 has one inbound vSpawn from A10
V30 has two inbound vSpawns from A75 & A57
V34 has no inbound vSpawns
These would be some of the initial target bases.
This suggests to me that you are still working on them. Carry on.

Good job, you evolved and refined it nicely.

You are subtly trying to limit the effectiveness of GVs on the over all combat initiatives it looks like. Is it that good of an idea to try and "force" players into planes and GVers out of the way with our current low numbers and anger about the current things done to the GV game? If you liked GVs it would be obvious by having more two way spawns inside of each country for GV initiatives to follow air initiatives and to mount assaults. As they are, resupply against attackers, and easy to isolate if captured. Like your HQ and strat exposure, it may well get you called names on 200, but, you are exposing them for strat runners and missions. Bet you made sure driving to them will take grim determination. :lol

Nice touch creating GV combat islands and a TT for them to GV away at and not greifing airfields. Interesting how your vbase bridging spawns between countries 1 and 2 "dead end" at ports. No ongoing GV or air initiative inland from there keeping GV's from being rear area nuisances. The real bridging is between airfields picketed by task groups and the ring around the base of the caldera.  You didn't run the ends to ports on the north bridging spawn paths like in the south. You don't like GV's sneaking bases out from behind you anymore than I do by how you arranges your spawns. :O Those task group ponds should be fun to watch over an evening to how things develop. :aok

By no means will this be dull. Hitech does like having a few airfields with no spawns he told me.

Yes, and some of the more vulnerable bases near the oceans have a small dune barrier to prevent those particular bases from direct bombardment from BB's

Chris,

Not a complaint, but more of a pedantic interest ... WHY would you want to build a map where a STRAT (or field, or town, or olive grove) couldn't be bombarded by sea?

I think your map appears well-balanced.  I just continue to be mystified by the newer maps in which the builders are attempting to dictate play (not a fan).

Keep it up, and Thanks again to all who are devoting the time and effort to get some new material into the game.

Cheers!

I did it to mitigate the 16' BB guns from killing the base, nothing to prevent to bombardment of town. By the way, you can still shell the field, but using indirect fire

Ah, Cool!

I misunderstood earlier...thought you had done what had been done on others and set them at a range (or geometric position) in which they were untouchable.

Please disregard all after Bon Jour!

I like the base layout, with the gv bases and spawns.

The top right (blue team) large air field should have gv spawns to two more airfields.

 :aok

I would like to fly around an check it out.

Very nice MA terrain Chuikov, I am sure it will be popular with the players.
