The real ones are the quiet pros. They don't brag.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I'd say the real ones are the real ones - the ones that completed a tough Assessment and Selection course followed by a long, intense period of training and then normally deploy to a foreign country shortly afterward where they put their lives on the line. Remember that 90% of them are strong Type-A personalities and with that comes a bit of cockiness. Some are louder than others but they've all earned the right to say or do whatever they would like.

Didn't VC's call them "The Green Death", or something along those lines? :headscratch:

A month in the jungle humping heavy rucks and grunts-n-gyrenes managed weight control that would make weight watchers jealous.  Beret A-teams and Ranger (LRRPs) had to manage really long stretches working fast and light without resup. The thousand yard stare that combat troops develop can be sobering if you'd never run across it before.  GB's and Rangers were hard for a reason.
