With some knowledge about the plane, which he probably had since he was a mechanic, it would not take him long to start it up. There are plenty of planes that are standing on remote stands unattended and no one will probably react until the plane starts to move.

He called it a "backflip", sound like a flight enthusiast to you?

Terms like "backflip", "powerloop" etc are very common in RC drone community and these are more and more used  (wrongly IMHO) when talking about full size aviation too. Similar to the word "drone" being used to describe anything that is unmanned and flying or even instead of an UFO.

HTC would know.

IF the RL Rich guy did fly AH, would HTC tell the authorities?

How far does player confidentiality go?

I just had a crazy/odd/kindabad idea. If the RL Rich guy flew AH and HTC revealed it to the authorities/public/press, Hitechcreation would recieve possible ALOT of publicity.
Subscription numbers could go out of site!

I assume that the police will check his PC and credit cards and will know if he was playing AH... :)

I don't disagree here. New R/C pilots are generally not aviation inclined, in fact they generally have no idea how a fixed wing aircraft flies. Some more advanced 3D maneuvers have weird names that may make it on to the full scale side (waterfall, avalanche, blender, etc.). I am not sure how popular "backflip" is in terms of fixed wing. I suppose one could correlate a loop and a backflip a they correlate maneuvers of a quadcopter and a fixed wing aircraft. Also, on the "drone" topic, I hate the term and always will. My R/C aircraft are technically drones, I suppose, but so is a Predator. What I have is a remote controlled Bf 109E, not a drone  :furious

There is absolutely no way a man whose never flown a plane before can hop into the cockpit, turn on the engines, taxi it out, take it off, do barrel rolls and pull up feet from the ground (how many Gs was that?).  Talk to these guys on open comms. No fear. No G forces. Not flying over the city for safety.

Yeah, that sounds more like loony toons to me.

Unless he is a run certified mechanic or he decided to use the internet.

This.  A run/taxi qualified mechanic could most certainly pull this off.  Once airborne, that’s a different story, as evidenced by this guy’s communication with ATC and flight performance.

I'm pretty damn good at AH and have never flown and real plane and couldn't tell you how to turn on "Q"400 engines, taxi it out, and do high G maneuvers feet from the water.

Well there you go. You can't do it so nobody can.

Oh crap.... body has been located. Oh well ignore that and keep at it.

Scared himself and pulled hard as a survival instinct.  No skill involved, just panic.

They can't find his body.

Not enough grey matter to do so as well illustrated in his posts.
