Does anyone remember
« on: September 06, 2018, 01:03:09 PM »
the free arenas back in the late 90's/2000 maybe.  I believe they were hacked by someone and HT did away with them.  They were free and player hosted/moderated, but a lot of fun.  Although I never signed up for a pay subscription to the MA back then, mostly due to work and a very demanding girlfriend, I was definitely hooked on the game and why I later returned.  There were a lot more noobs in those arenas so you were able to learn the game with less frustration.  I'm curious if the return of this model would attract more players like it did me.

We have had free multi-player player run/configurable arenas available for quite some time.

The only difference is we host them, which is actually better so you do not have to worry about having a super computer to act as a server.

We will not allow a player to host a server again.  It got abused, and after repeated warnings continued to be abused, so we pulled it for good.

The 8 person H2H rooms are what got me hooked. Too bad they were abused.  :frown:

You can still have The H2H  rooms as you called them. Create a custom arena and invite your friends to join.

Remember and miss them too.  I think Warbirds still has the Player Hosted Arena  If you can stand the graphics of that older brother of Aces High, that is.

We still have them. Only difference is that the arena you create runs on our server.Every thing else is exactly as it used to be in H2H.

If you guys want to see how this works, I will be hosting a custom arena tomorrow morning, Saturday, 9/8/2018, at 10:00 AM Pacific time.  I normally like to give more notice, but since people are showing interest, I will go ahead and set one up.  When you log in, go to the Custom Arenas tab and enter the "Canyon Fight" arena.

As Hitech and Skuzzy both said, the custom arenas are free.  You do not have to be a subscriber to join.  If you have a friend who wants to try the game out, invite them to join.  We can have up to 16 people in the arena.

There were all kinds of wacky maps/arenas.  Jeep races, air races through canyons, spawn ins at 10k., single field vulch fests etc.

I had made a few. Of mine the most used was Shuff's Paradise.

I bet it was fun.

I loved 8-player.

I should host an arena and just leave it up all the time.
