Here is the problem, in a nutshell.
Google now requires all sites to be secure or they will not post your site in a search. So we had to convert the server handling the raw event log data to be secure.
Now, for another server to access that data requires a different implementation than what was used before. This is just the way it is. Nothing wrong with what was being done before. Google's requirement is forcing this change to happen.
If you need to assign blame for the problem, then Google is your buddy.
If that keeps you happy until we can get this fixed, then that makes me happy. We are actively working with the CM team to fix the issue. The raw log data is all there.
Joomla is kind of getting in the way of this and actually augmented the problem, or we would have had it fixed already.
