2 Hour Rule
« on: September 15, 2001, 06:58:00 PM »
It doesn't seem to be clearly stated in the rules.  But it is definitely being enforced by the CM's.

This same thing happened in Afrika Korps and Hostile Shores too.

Somebody changes the rules but the web page is not updated.  Then there is a dispute because one side reads the web page and doesn't know about a rule change that the other side learned about from the horse's mouth.

This causes one side to dominate a frame, lowering morale on one side.  Arguments break out over the rules, leading to further lowering of morale, players and units quitting the scenario, etc.  I hope it's not happening again.

I really *should* have known about this... perhaps I even did at one point and just forgot. The late Axis attack on our CV was especially troublesome for me because in my mind, there really was no limit to how far this boundry could be pushed. In effect there *was* no boundry.

Now that I understand the 2 hour limit, I am a lot more comfortable with what occured (I reiterate that hblair did *nothing* wrong), and any planning must be done with this in mind. Perfectly acceptable to me... and RTBs are *strictly* at your own risk until the clock runs down.

Still, it should be on the rules page in black and white.

Not that the people who make this happen aren't doing a great job.  The web pages and scoring are awesome, and the frames are starting on time and without major problems, which is rare for events of this size.

TOD was orignally designed as a 1 1/2 to 2 hour event. Missions are planned accordingly.
As such we really shouldn't have to pin it down more than that.

Obviously I'm not going to let anyone threaten to keep birds on the runway for an hour before heading to target. Resulting in a 3 hour or longer frame. (Sorry but thats just plain past my bedtime)  :) Hence my post about
reseting the arena after 2 hours. However, that post was MY opinion, and as we all know I'm not infallable.

If you guys just can't let this be as is I'm sure daddog will see to it that the rules are modified.

Rgr that Ghosth, but I think yer "opinion" is a very good one. Why not just go ahead and officially call it a 2 hour limit and we all can wipe our hands of this and any potential confusion and move on... We'd never have to deal with anything like this again. Two hour limit - works for me.

2 hour rule is fine

i have an observation though please dont view this as a complaint ... :)
My squad had alot of fun.

out of 43 or so allies by my rough count 29 of them were involved in a attacks near  a1 and our city. 22 of which were shot down by 2 axis squads.

No wonder things were relatively quiet and folks were bored on the axis side. At t15 jv44 was engaged low against 12 p38s while 2 other groups headed to a1 and the city.

I dont know if this is a by product of the way missions are now being arranged but I had thought the attacks/sweeps etc... we be spread out so each squad would have the expectation of some action. No wonder folks on the axis side were ready to log halfway through.

again not a complaint I had great fun
