An Early Devil

Bf 109E-3 of 9./JG 54 in early August 1940 while based in Guines, France. This aircraft was a 1939 build and features the early green camouflage pattern of RLM 70 and 71. This was supplemented in 1940 with RLM 02 gray on the wings and the RLM 65 underside blue high up on the fuselage sides. The wings retain the early crosses in their 1939 locations while fuselage cross is the later large standard.
