Newest version of C-130 (LM-100J) Super Hercules does loop

Latest incarnation of the C-130 does a loop at Farnborough Air Show.

A guy with nothing to lose who probably came close to losing everything. 


That said, you can do that maneuver in just about any airplane.    Not sure I would ever try it though.

Can you do that in the 747 with space shuttle piggyback?

I’d say it’s all about G loading.   If you stay within the limits of the system then yeah.   

I wouldn’t want to try it though.

Years ago I was inquiring about the aerobatic ability of the B-1b after seeing it doing some wild stuff at an airshow.  Our resident fight pilot Eagl told me that it takes about 4g's to perform a loop (I hope I'm not misquoting him).  So if the plane can handle 4g's (at least), it can do a loop.
