"In Australia, a 2006 paper defined a mass shooting as "one in which ⩾5 firearm‐related homicides are committed by one or two perpetrators in proximate events in a civilian setting, not counting any perpetrators"."

Chapman, S. (December 2006). "Australia's 1996 gun law reforms: faster falls in firearm deaths, firearm suicides, and a decade without mass shootings"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_shooting

Australia's mass shooting is not proof gun control doesn't work

Yeaahhhh nahhhh.

You need to recognise that our firearms culture is significantly different to the USA. Pistols are a rarity, genuine users of ARs represent a very small group, the majority of gun owners use bolt action. And the majority of them are larger than 223's. The typical kiwi gun owner has a .22lr for bunnies, a centerfire bolt action for deer/goats/pigs, and a shotgun for ducks. We're freely allowed suppressors and have been since forever. And our hunting season is 12/7/365 (not shooting at night!). We don't need permits and can go hunting in our beautiful national parks.

Not surprisingly you list exactly the same contents of many a rural/farm/ranch gun safe in the states.
The pistol which is a rarity for you is very handy out in the fields stringing fence or herding when carting around a rifle is not handy. Mountain lion/bear/coyotes in my area seem to just pop out of the bushes with alarming frequency at times.

We have no lions/bears/coyotes/snakes/and all the other stuff that would try and eat. If the bunnies ever organized then they may overwhelm us and suffocate us to death.

Arlo: depending on how you measure it there have been at least 6 mass shootings in Aussie since 1996:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Australia

It's also important to remember that Aussie gun crime/homicide was already dropping before 1996. Most gun homicides before then were attributed to gangs. In the late 80s and early 90s australian police cracked down on gangs. If you google graphs of the gun homicide rates in Aussie you see a trend that started before the gun buyback. The most significant impact the gun buy back had was on suicides, but there is no data to show if suicides by alternate means increased.

Even more interesting is another Australian 2017 gun amnesty that saw over 50000 illegal weapons handed in - including a rocket launcher and fully automatic weapons. Which shows that no matter what they do there are always firearms.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd... according to 2017 stats Australians now own more guns than they did in 1996.

So the Aussie gun law argument is FUBAR.

While I have a few non-military firearms, the majority of my vast collection of firearms are Communist Mil-Surp firearms, mainly SKS rifles, but also AKMs, Mosin-Nagants and other Commie pistols and WW2 firearms.

My rifles and pistols, while maybe not directly involved in atrocities or mass killings were the instruments of tyranny from East Germany to the Balkans, to the steppes of Russia and the Ukraine. Across Asia to the rice paddies of Vietnam to the far reaches of the Chinese frontier.

Every time I shoot them, clean them, or even hold them, I am reminded of how precious our 2nd Amendment is. I try to convey this to my friends/family when we go shooting but it's difficult to teach the history of brutal regimes and democide when you're just out having a good time at the range.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Not really. It was about the type, not the number. But hey, Americans get confused about that, too.

Given that that fact many Intel agencies (like the FBI) know about attacks that are going to happen before they actually do, and still do not stop them, just proves that giving away your rights means that terrorist have more of an opportunity to break the law and take lives since the FBI and police werent there to stop it before it happened. IDK about you, but I'd rather trust a few of my fellow Americans who are packing in case of an attack than to have to depend on the police after the attack has already happened. It is much more effective to stop attacks if the terrorist know they won't have a chance if they attempt to attack. When you look up cases like Yeland Yee, who voted to ban guns in Cali, but then turned around and sold them on the black market, you should understand why it's important for every day citizens to be allowed to conceal carry.

Or, rather, not given that such is a fact but a suspicious delusion.

What I would like seen done focuses more on the term "well regulated militia" and require all gun owners that have a peculiar AR-15 fetish first serve a minimum of 2 years in a combat branch plus receive psychological testing/clearance and licensing with required periodic renewal. If you get dinged for domestic violence or broadcast your desire to kill people for political/religious reason then your large capacity semi-auto ticket gets cancelled. But wigged out fear mongering conspiracy theories does not a rational argument make.

A hand gun can do just as much damage as a semi auto AR-15. Your point is flawed and deranged and entirely based on fear propaganda by leftist lunatics.

A handgun cannot rack up a kill count as high as a large magazine capacity semi-auto AR-15 nor would it have had the range of the weaponry used in the Las Vegas concert massacre. I deal in facts, ma'am.

It also helps when they work for the FBI gun trading unit (paddock). Where is Campos? The only "witness". Why have so many people at the concert been killed shortly after? Too many questions. I don't believe any guns were fired out of that window. Too much forensic evidence to suggest he wasn't the only shooter if he did do it.

Until I see video evidence of Nick Cruz going into the school and shooting people, then walking down the hall to the bathroom to change clothes. Then go taking to the girl in the interview, then leave the school, then go to McDonald's, the leave, just so an officer happens to find him walking down the street, then the kids says demons are talking to him. When all of that gets released, then maybe I'll believe the roadkill narrative they mock us with v

Sure it can. Handguns can have extended mags. They are more concealed, easier to carry, 90% of attacks are up close anyway.

Next they will be using chainsaws.

Just realize your "facts" are only what MSM wants you to believe since you are too lazy to do any actual real research on your own.

I know you can't fathom my not being impressed by conspiracy crazy-think. But I will tell you I laugh every time someone suggests that there will be just as many horrible mass killings with baseball bats, pipe wrenches, fingernail files or rocks (even chain-saws) if large capacity military style semi-autos are regulated. Just regulated. Makes me wonder if the person twisting logic to (try to) make their argument is merely scared they couldn't pass the qualifiers.

What 'research' do you actually do other than looking for conspiracy drivel on the internet to support your suspicions?

Define "conspiracy drivel".

The easiest definition on this forum is just about everything you seem to think is 'research.' Granted, you may occasionally try to reinterpret other sources to fit your personal slant.

So is Trump/Russia Colluuuuuuusion conspiracy drivel or truth? Because that's what MSM has been telling you for 3 years.

At least everything I've posted can actually be proven as fact.
