AHEDITOR 2 error message
« on: October 16, 2001, 10:33:00 PM »
I posted this on the Bug Reports and Technical Support forums but didn't get any answer
I have AH EDITOR 103 installed and running ok.
I downloaded AHEDIT200.EXE, installed it following the instructions and when I click on the menu Icon or directly on the aheditor2.exe file I get this fault page error message:

"AHEDITOR2 provocó un error de página no válida en el

System:
- Pentium III 450Mhz, VIA chipset (all up to date drivers)
- i740 AGP 8MB video card (latest drivers)
- 256MB RAM
- Windows 98 SE (en Español) w/ DirectX 8
- Virtual memory 256MB (swap file).
Aces High runs ok in ALL resolutions, Online and Offline.
It is a bug or can I do something to run the Editor?
Thanks.

Hello Gral Anibal

Hope you haven't pulled all your hair out yet.

Just putting 2 post that were placed in this form by Hamish.
Don't know if he fix his problem.

Also I see that you are running Windows 98 SE the same as Hamish.  I'm on WindowsME

1) Try setting your desktop screen and the video setting in aceshigh both to 800 X 600 16 Bits and see if that does anything.

2) Also are you using the Aces High version 1.08 patch 2 game.

3) Are you using DX8, if you answered yes to question #2 then maybe you could install it again.

I'll try to think of some more stuff but I'm not good with computer problems.

Maybe you can email or post a message to Hamish to see if he fix his problem.

Pokie, thanks for your concern.
I tried and changed the configuration of both, computer, desktop resolution and AH Editor 2 video settings many times before posting this problem.
It seems to be a bug with certain configurations. Because this is a BETA release, I hope the next version solves this problem and includes the new objects and planes.

Here are the answers to your points:

1) Try setting your desktop screen and the video setting in aceshigh both to 800 X 600 16 Bits and see if that does anything.
- I did it in ALL possible resolutions and frame rates options.

2) Also are you using the Aces High version 1.08 patch 2 game.
- First installation was with 1.08 patch 1. I tried everything again with patch 2.

3) Are you using DX8, if you answered yes to question #2 then maybe you could install it again.
- Yes DirectX 8 is installed.

Hamish posted a similar problem, I will ask him if he found a solution.
On the meantime i am using the 103 version.

That's a shame Gral Anibal.   :(

Hopefully the updated editor will work for you.

P.S.  If you find a solution could you post it here.

Good Luck!

I never thought until now.

But you should check the   curterr.cfg
located in the
C:\Program Files\HTC\aheditor\settings folder.

Make sure that it has a name of a terrain thats in your
C:\Program Files\HTC\aheditor\terrains  folder.

If you don't the editor will get an error.

Also maybe you could try the latest dx8.1a

Thanks Pokie,
curterr.cfg is ok.
AH 108 needs DX7, the editor (1.03 and 2) uses DX6 (same as AH107), i think.
I have the *official* DX8.0a from Microsoft, so i believe this is not a DirectX issue.
If I don't get an answer from HTC, I'll wait for the new Editor. :(
