Some film of the 12 hour Scenario that ran this weekend
« on: September 01, 2019, 11:28:16 PM »

What can I say, it was a blast, and the addition of an Area Controller for the Allied side (thanks Dantoo!!) just added an extra polish to the day.

Feel free to skip through the video, I was only there for 5 hours, and this vid is nearly all action, so you should find something to enjoy.

Scroll to 18:55 for an especially vicious attack on a He111, I was determined that he wasn't going home, even if I had to spray all my ammo, then ram him, it didn't come to that luckily!

If you haven't attended a Special Event, be it FSO or a Scenario, you really should, it's an experience you can only get by being involved.

Video is here (watch in 1080p if you can)

Watched a good bit of that. Looked very intense! I feel bad for your aim hehe <G> That part around 20 min where you shoot that bomber is crazy lol. Those pea shooters are rough  :old:! The second time at 23 min is also some great footage.

Thanks for posting!

I've got some great film from the 110s perspective of a couple of sorties if you are interested in editing and posting into a 10-15 minute quicky. Just let me know!  :airplane:

I had a great time at this event!

I'd love to see the footage from the other side, I've recently been recording ingame, then re-recording external views from the film viewer, wanted to get this one up quickly however, thus internal only.

I know what you mean about my aim, it's not great, but heck, I have a good time :)

Salute!

Sweet! If you PM your email, I'll send em over. I only had 3 sorties, but they were good ones. I realized that your fight at 1 hour in vs the low 110s was me and boys trying to escape home. We were in a tight spot haha. Devil and I had to book it out of there cuz of no gas n ammo. That was a great sortie there for me, scored 5 on that one.  :airplane:

 :rofl

At the 35:00 mark where Dantoo is calling out strikers.... We had no strikers left. They all took a schnapps break.

So we used the 3 110s we had left to bait you out to fight. Was not the gaming thing to do to win. But we all wanted a fight. That was a FURBALL!

We were just lucky you three weren't fully fuelled and armed, I think a 2 V 3 with those odds would have gone very differently! :)

sooner the 110 isn't used in this gamey manner the better.  Takes all the realism out of an attempted re-enactment of the Battle of Britain for me.  They should be forced to take bombs or fly no higher than 10k.

for anyone to counter that argument I say this, why do all the so called "experten" flock to fly that aircraft every scenario rather than a 109  :D.   It just wouldn't have been seen in the war, I can really picture the likes of Galland saying hold the spit or my beloved 109, it's the BF110 for me, cant touch this!

Same goes for more Hurricanes than Spits.

It really is not that bad if it is in low numbers. In this event, the 110's were generally full and accounted for a third or more of the Luftwaffe fighters. The event was not designed to be as such. The 110's were meant to make up a sixth or less of the Luftwaffe fighters. The Bf 110C can shine if it is used properly and in good hands. Also, the RAF rarely properly dealt with us the way they should have. Even in the real Battle of Britain, 110's were used poorly when escorting and they were properly engaged by Spitfire's prior to the Hurricanes showing up on most occasions. Together, these two factors led to a horrible death count for 110's.

KN and friends chose the Bf 110C because it is much better than a 109E in a BoB setup. Same reason why I am flying FW 190's in Anzio. One could say the same about a Spitfire versus a Hurricane. Also, Devil5O5 claims that the Bf 110C in 1940 had more seasoned pilots than Emil's because of their job description versus the Emil. This came as a shock to me as well, but in the end if not used properly, they are food.

The numbers were the problem...not necessarily meaning the 110s. It was average 18 axis-20 allied, throughout. With more participation it would have not been noticed as so glaring. IMHO
