Aces High 1999 Ports
« on: September 21, 2019, 06:07:07 PM »
Hello everyone,

So for those of you who have played awhile might remember the older port designs.  How cool would it be for them to make a return in the current iteration of the game?  The ports we have now are not bad in and of themselves, but really where to the ships moor?  If anything they act as PT bases (IE the VH pens, or mini V bases)  It was cool seeing the CV's all lined up in neat rows along the piers imagine adding a battleship to the mix.  Plus if you added just 1/3rd of the ships guns to the field defense ports could turn into one of the harder bases to take.  Not banking on this happening but we can all have our own dreams right?

What do you guys think, would this be a positive change?

Those ports were kinda cool looking with the piers and ships.

Yes they were.

Maybe one or two per country.    Harder to take than a normal port.   :headscratch:

You aiming at convincing Hitech to retrofit into existing terrains or as a new object available for future new terrains?

I can do retrofits in minutes while reshaping the surrounding 3mile radii combat area will take a bit more time. I did some after release work for Hitech a while back. I don't know if Waffle is still with Hitech or he contracts Waffle for project work as he needs 3D object work. Or if that has always been their relationship. I would still like to see the Tempest finally updated for AH3.

Yes.

Also, some players have a problem with frame rates over the "giant" airfields, especially when the ack is firing.  Might see the same problem with a more complex port.

Don't the current ports impact frame rate more than a large airfield?.....or did that get fixed?

a "medium" or any sized port along with what we have now would be cool. it would be cool to see static ships and the.......... subs

I never had FR problems with ports or airfields in AH2.   But in AH3 the large fields have caused me grief.
