Well, it makes sense I am just not sure if the effect is exaggerated compared to RL distances or not.  I know official "sundown" time for hunting is a factor depending on your east/west location but I am not sure what it would look like based on the distances in the game.  It feels like it might be more than IRL, but I can't say for sure as I have unfortunately never teleported a couple hundred miles west at dusk.

Too bad they won't change the icon range to 1k during the night.

Would make for some entertaining cat & mouse misadventures.
