Pretty fed up.
« on: November 24, 2019, 10:41:27 PM »
After playing Aces High for 18 years, maybe it's time to just say goodbye.  Once again, I have been "muted"  This time only my "Chat Privileges" are "currently suspended".  Perhaps what I said to one obnoxious and pusillanimous player made me deserve what I received, but, I have seen worse by others, including this player. It has been over 48 hours, I have no idea how long it will last, which is in and of itself ridiculous.  I come to this game for the fun of chatting as much as actual game play. The game itself has degraded into a smack talking, name calling horde fest, that with less than a hundred players on at any given time, has detracted from my enjoyment of playing.  I know I am not the only one.  Constantly having to defend one's self from the constant badgering and belittling from a few players who believe that if you don't play the game Their Way, you are a coward, gay, Communist, socialist and worse.  I admit that I am as guilty as anyone, but in all sincerity, I have done it to defend myself.  There is a reason there are virtually no new players that stick around.  Nobody wants to help them learn (although I have seen this change over the last month), and for the most part, no mentoring or training, let alone inclusion into the game.  In fact, I have on more than one occasion seen the player I mentioned above, cut down and verbally eviscerate new players because they HO'd him, or bailed rather than be shot down.  Even though this player HOs and rams almost everyone he meets unless he can pick them.
Aces High won't keep players, new or otherwise, as long as this persists.  Another thing I have noticed is that having three teams, with usually less than 30 players each, playing on huge maps.  The two teams with the most players will gang up and split the third team until they score enough fields from that team to win before turning on each other.when both enemies have 20+% of your fields, it is nearly impossible to come back to win the map.
The game needs to drop to TWO TEAMS until such time that there are enough players on a consistent basis to warrant 3 teams again.  Also, Where are the features that will keep the old players as well as bring in the new ones?  We haven't seen a new plane in years.  90% of the players in this game are over 40. Many even older.  Many cannot or will not buy new computers to keep up with the latest graphics advancements.  Many cannot and will not buy VR equipment, or even rudder pedals which gives others with those things a definite advantage.  Add to that the discrepancy of what planes are perked, and which aren't, is a joke.
I have put up with this for about as long as I care to.  Something has got to change.  If it doesn't, I will have no other choice than to leave what used to be a great game, with great people.

If somebody behaves in a way that you believe hurts the game just use the report tool.

If you get muted there's a good chance you need to relax.

If you're not having fun take a break.

With some of the messages I’ve gotten recently I find it hard to believe some of y’all are adults. If I was a new player I’d probably say F yall and leave.

I agree - the big maps need to leave rotation now.

A large share of the AH is very toxic against anyone. New players are instantly accused of being shades/spies etc and anyone killing them is a [insert word]tard for killing them in the wrong way. Compare to other games AH community stands out unfortunately. The saddest part is that the community is much older than for most other games and thus should be more mature but thats not the case. The game really need some admins  that cleans up in game.

Once again, I have been "muted"
So you are a repeat offender

pusillanimous player

Had to Google that one.  Interesting word.

I come to this game for the fun of chatting as much as actual game play. The game itself has degraded into a smack talking, name calling horde fest, that with less than a hundred players on at any given time, has detracted from my enjoyment of playing.

You come to the game for the chat as much as the actual gameplay yet you abuse another player enough to lose the ability to chat.  As unaccustomed as I am to agree with FLS, he is right, it is an indicator that you need to relax.

Constantly having to defend one's self from the constant badgering and belittling from a few players who believe that if you don't play the game Their Way, you are a coward, gay, Communist, socialist and worse.

I am going to read between the lines here and make an assumption that the badgering and belittling was precipitated by you running from a fight in a pusillanimous manner.  Maybe if you came to fight as much as you came to chat they would not have used harsh words against you.
There is a reason there are virtually no new players that stick around.  Nobody wants to help them learn (although I have seen this change over the last month)…………..Aces High won't keep players, new or otherwise, as long as this persists.
So, your opinion is that new players are not staying due to verbal abuse.  New players are lasting less than 30 minutes.  I do not think that is enough time for them to get abused.  My money is on the fact that the UI is complex and even getting in the fight is a bridge too far for a new player.

As far as the older players.  My opinion is they left because the game changed from fights to chases.  It is IMO a big problem with the current gameplay.  I am not sure there is much anyone can do about that, pusillanimous squads are living amongst us and it is their choice.

The game needs to drop to TWO TEAMS until such time that there are enough players on a consistent basis to warrant 3 teams again.
Many of us have said this for a while.  The consensus appears to be that Hitech will not entertain the idea of 2 sides so no point getting uptight about it.

Also, Where are the features that will keep the old players as well as bring in the new ones?  We haven't seen a new plane in years.
We do not use 90% of the planes we have.  What do you think would be the point in more?

I have put up with this for about as long as I care to.  Something has got to change.  If it doesn't, I will have no other choice than to leave what used to be a great game, with great people.

Have not given yourself much wiggle room there have ya buddy!  Be sure to phone Hitech and make sure he personally knows that you will have no other choice.

Yup, along with the trigger happy mods.

Also +1 to two sides.

Suspended chat privileges of the length you've stated, are the result of players' .reports. I believe a total of 10 separate reports are required to trigger the action. If you believe you've been unfairly muted, call Hitech and discuss. If it was done frivolously at the hands of one or more players, your mute will be lifted and quite possibly assigned to the ones responsible.

fly faster planes, then no one can run, tune to channel all, then you wont get offended, fly different countries to find red guys and ignore all the hate you receive from being a side swtcher. grow a sack, build a wall, or check your feelings. this is a war game, not sim earth. the other players are here simply to kill you.
im sorry its not so fun anymore for you. nut lets face it, the old days are gone. flippz is here to stay, and im the KING!!!!!

I have the ability to close all cross country messaging. I have been debating if I wan to run a test week with cross country disabled.

Who thinks that it is a good idea to disable cross country chat?

Could it be made an Opt-in/Opt-out anytime feature?

That would be the best choice IMO.  Give the player the ability to decide what he sees.
