This P-38J was the aircraft of Lieutenant Loren R. Wilson of the 383rd Fighter Squadron, 364th Fighter Group while based at Honington in the UK. From February 1944 until the end of the war the 383rd flew escort and ground attack missions over enemy occupied Europe with P-38s and then later P-51s. The cowls and nose of Lieutenant Wilson's aircraft were adorned with the names of four women; Betty A, Mim, Frieda and Joele.
