What is a pennant?

Something I have been curious about.  What is a pennant, and how is it used?

Right-clicking on the clipboard map gives you a choice to display pennants.  So what are they?

A pennant is a tapered flag. IIRC if you steal a sheep you might see a pennant over your aircraft indicating sheep on board.

Steal the Sheep is working right now.  Last time I played, there was an actual sheep on top of the airplane.  Looked pretty funny.

So the pennant is only on the map to mark airplanes?  Is there a capture the flag option?  Something I could set up in a custom arena?

There used to be a capture the Flag game for AH. You flew into an enemy field through their pennant and it attached to your plane. Then you tried to runaway with back to the nearest friendly field while being chased and shot at by the owners of the flag.

I probably got them mixed up. I just remember flying with a pennant.
