198 squadron Typhoon
« on: March 25, 2020, 08:41:18 AM »
This 198 squadron Typhoon served during the battle for Normandy in the summer of 1944. Equipped with rockets and bombs Tiffies took a heavy toll of the German motorised transport.

This aircraft was photographed in July with its lower D Day stripe recognition stripes. When the upper stripes were removed at the beginning of that month the squadron codes beneath were repainted. The colour used was most likely medium sea grey, probably due to a shortage of correct sky paint at the forward bases in France at this time. Many kits and profiles of 198 Squadron Typhoons show red as the colour used for these codes, but squadron pilots who were there at the time have stated that this was not the case.

Very nice! Superb work!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
