help with t.flight rudder pedals and keyboard mapping.

I finally got some rudder pedals yesterday after 9 years. The Thrustmaster T-Flight. I have always used "A" and "D" keyboard buttons for rudder, and by tapping them quickly that is how i have always aimed my guns in a fighter. Now that i have the pedals it is very hard to match the accuracy i had using the A and D keys for aiming. So, what im trying to do is have my rudder pedals functional BUT also have A and D keys on my keyboard work for rudder too at the same time. That way i can steer my plane with pedals, and use keyboard to adjust aim. I have not found a way to do this yet. Is there a way? Under map keyboard it shows A and D set to rudder, but with the t-flight pedals active those keys do nothing.

Can someone help me figure out how to accomplish this? Thanks

You cannot map the rudder to two different control systems.

What you can do is use rudder trim with the keyboard.

Try adding scaling to the rudder axis.

I don't recommend using keyboard controls to aim.

Aim the whole aircraft, point your flight path at the target, not just the nose. There are exceptions but generally when your nose points where you're going you'll get more hits.

Try scaling. It will also take time to learn how to use the rudder pedals, trust me.

Problem is, I too have the Thrustmaster cheap rudder pedals. They are great for taxiing especially in sims that need them like IL2 and DCS. Problem is they suck for fine gunnery. My problem is that they are "sticky" and have a high static friction to overcome, and when you overcome it you easily overshoot the desired rudder position you wanted. I've tried lubing the rails, modifying the spring, etc without totally trying to rebuild the thing on different rails or something. I think they've gotten better, but like 50% better. They still suck and have nothing to the feel of real rudder pedals.

So, try scaling, and it WILL take you a while to get used to them, so get used to dying and missing for a while.

What Hotstuff said. Spring loaded pedals don't have the feel of the real ones since speed and drag have no effect whatsoever. Then again the same applies to joysticks. Force Feedback would solve that issue but that's a rarity even in sticks, FF pedals just don't exist, at least not for consumer use. Then again, tapping keys or twisting the stick is even more unreal. I'd compare spring loaded controllers to power steering in a car as it can be so extreme that you don't actually feel the road.

And it will take time. If you fly daily, it'll take you about two weeks to remember to use them. In three months your brain will grow new neural pathways or similar routes to make the process as natural as walking. And just like with your first steps fine tuning the new motoric skill will take some time.
