If enemy is around guns dont work

Since the last patch my guns act strange (they seem to skip... like the button on my joystick is failing) when the enemy is around. I am not sure if the guns are not firing or the game is just not drawing the bullets and playing the sound. I think its possible that the game is just not indicating because I have shot down a plane in what seemed to be a skip in the firing. This situation does NOT happen when I fire the guns when flying in friendly territory.
I fly a mossy with and x52 and Rift.

Todd try to use a keyboard key for fire guns (one should be mapped already) easiest way to tell if its you or the game..

Trying changing your audio playback device, sometimes Rift audio does weird toejam, especially after a patch.
