The NACA could only get 28k out of them.   And that was only after every nonessential components were taken of the test aircraft.  Including the insulation.    And NACA data does not even have any data for flight over 28.. neither does ah intell page.

Service ceiling is not absolute ceiling. It just specifies the altitude for a specific climb rate.

That's possible but extremely rare, so rare I never encountered 30K B24s - Players intending to fly at extremely high altitudes usually take a B17 instead.

Reason:  A 50% Fuel B-24 with 8k of bombs takes about 50 minutes to reach 30k, but will be almost out of fuel by then. If you take 100% of fuel, it takes you 90 minutes to get to 30k. The climb rate is almost 0 by then. Actually, it takes 30 minutes just to get from 27.6 to 30k! Less than 80 ft/min rate of climb past official service ceiling.

I don't know how you have the patience to do some of the stuff you do Snail, but I am really glad you exist so that I and others get to sit on the sidelines and benefit from it.  You are still my favorite gastropod.

Did you try with no bombs and no ammo? :)

So which plane in AH can fly the highest other than the 163? B29? Ta152?

Literally looking at a set of 30k B24’s. No bombs, just climbed on up.

i get my intel straight from naca records.. so if it isn't from those old crusty files.. no thanks.. even consolidated specs were not as accurate.

Unless it was recorded and the film indicated the flight was 30k I'd go with mistaken pilot report.
