Amazing work Oboe. Striking reflective look on your BMF. It really "shines" above other examples of the P-51 we have in game.
(You were smart not to take the bet.)
I like it. The natural metal on Mustangs was actually quite varied. Some have a pretty uniform tone over much of the fuselage (like Shawnee Princess and Tiny Gay Baba, for example) while others are all over the place. Age, atmospheric impact, and metallurgical differences--between batches of planes, but also on a plane itself--have a lot to do with that. Planes tarnish at different rates, for example.
You have managed to mimic the metal of the actual airplane pretty darned closely. One TINY nitpick may be that on this particular Mustang the fuselage metal is darker on that panel forward of the wing root than the panels ahead of it. Not a deal breaker, but opposite what we see on most P-51s. (Shawnee Princess, a -25, is the same way, yet TGB, a -20 like BA, is not. I will have to try and figure out if there is some correlating factor somewhere that explains this.)
I would perhaps tone the red down the slightest bit as it would fit the rest of the skin a little better (it may admittedly be a concession to the graphics engine, but I also don't entirely trust the profile or the warbird for accuracy--the source photo red looks really flat and worn).
Nice work. I really want to try the white rivets sometime but I'm afraid to. Ha ha.
