We have 23 cases. All cases are returning people from overseas held in quarantine until they are cleared (typically after 2 weeks, with no symptoms, and passing 3 covid-19 tests).

We haven't had a single case of community transmission for over 100 days. ie, zero nil nada zip cases of covid-19 internally.

But, you have had 2 million cases and a 160,000 cases.

I have had colds and flues since i was born.  I talk to some of my friends that were under quarantine for testing positive and I never got that sick. to me the flu or cold was high fever and body aches, some coughing and nose drips.  my friends sound like they're drowning.  I was never scared these people sounded really scared on the phone.  this girl told me she thought she would die at any moment.  one of my nephews felt tired for days, he fell asleep driving and totaled his car, at the hospital they told him he was positive.

I believe the population of NZ is around 5 million.  There are more people than that living within a 50 mile radius of my house.  Apples to oranges.

but you are right apples to oranges. they took early action,  and took it seriously.  we took action but lots of people don't take it seriously.

as an example our post commander just walked in without a mask,  he said if trump doesn't wear one, he won't wear one. rest of us had masks.

Very true.  Good thing we cut off travel from China when we did, too, even though that upset many politicians and media outlets at the time ...

Chinese flew to Europe then to America, also us citizens and residents could fly directly from China.  not much of a ban.

Exactly because some politicians and media immediately decried the ban. You might go back and see who those folks were. Same ones saying nothing was done.
