About Ready To Build A New Machine
« on: September 22, 2020, 03:18:19 PM »
Will actually be using some parts from my current rig. The PS (evga 1000 watt gold), GPU (RTX 2070), and my current SSDs and HDDs.

I have really had good luck with Gigabyte boards so I plan to base it on a Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Ultra with an i9-9900K 9th gen processor.

Have not really kept up with the hardware when I am not in a build mode. I can go crazy on ram but I really don't think that much is needed. I was thinking of going with just 32 gigs. Might do some game streaming in the near future. I will need a good fan or cooler for the processor too.... along with a good updated case.

Suggestions..... ????

Cases?      Coolers/Fans?      Ram?

Just one case but lots of the other two. Trust me, I'm A+ certified (wait, do you have to renew that?).

P.S. Remember to periodically turn it off then back on.

Get Z490 and 10700K, same as your intended build but newer + better priced.
Or wait for October 8 and AMD's Zen 3 announcement

For my 60th alittle over a year ago I upgraded my rig :

MSI Z390-A PRO LGA1151 mb with Noctua NH-D15S, Premium Dual-Tower CPU Cooler with NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fan on a Intel Core i9-9900K Desktop Processor 8 Cores up to 5.0 GHz Turbo unlocked LGA1151 300 Series 95W in a Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case with High Airflow, Supporting up to Six 120mm Fans and USB 3.0 with 32 gb ram and a 2070 gpu

It pushes the vive pro vr nicely in AH3

My current rig is hampered by the MB and chip. Long in tooth is putting it nicely (i5 first gen, Gigabyte P55 USB3).

It actually runs AHIII full on. It runs RDR2 fairly well. It falls of it's rocker in MSFS 2020.

No guns in that game, right? Not worth it.  :old:

LOL Just not that into it. Not the time anyway. This will do for my RDR2 and MSFS 2020 and my video editing.

I am itching to pull the trigger but will wait for some feedback.

Have only looked at a few cases too. I like the new style that hides all the cables. I'll probably even grab a M2 drive or two.

I just built a new system last month.  I went with this case.  (Very roomy)
Asus Tuf Gaming GT501

(btw.   M.2 drives are the shizzle)  Is that the word I'm looking for.   :uhoh

I changed the ram to 4 x 32 gig of the same brand/type for a total of 128 gig.

That case looks pretty good.

Nothing wrong with a little head-room.  Future proof.  :aok

I made sure it did not light up like Times  Square on New Years eve

Who over 16 needs their ram to light up?
