Yippy search engine
« on: November 07, 2020, 12:42:08 PM »
I was told on 200 that Yippy is a trolling website and that it has skewed articles.  :headscratch:

Yippy doesn’t generate articles or documents.

Yippy is a search engine, that is an alternative to the Google Service Appliance.

I don’t understand how someone would come to believe an alternative to Google is automatically somehow going to produce conspiracy, biased etc type results.  :headscratch:

I like choices and prefer choices that don’t track me and then advertise to me...

I have been using DuckDuckGo. No tracking and no censoring of searches.  Give it a try.

Seems decent, but I just can't take them seriously with such a ridiculous name.

I also use DuckDuckGo

What he was attempting  to point out on 200 is that if your search engine isn’t the big company you’re going to get, umm how can I say this, hmmm... :uhoh

Well lets just say they were saying if you don’t use google right NOW you’re  going to get conspiracy news, lies etc...

On rare occasions I may use ducuduck but it is only fair to midland as a search engine.

I do not depend on Google for news. I find it does poorly in that regard.

it's interesting how data mining works. was watching the movie on Netflix the impossible.

had a question about one of the characters, pick up my phone start typing on Google "the" and the movie shows up at the top of the search. not the first time this happens.

No matter which search engine you use, if you don't wipe your browser history and cookies regularly the algorithms will soon narrow your search results to match those you viewed the last time, losing the objectivity.

Many users stay logged in to their Google accounts all the time which heavily affects their Google searches as everything they do in the Internet is filtered through the algorithms.

Ppl are being manipulated by their own online behavior and they do not even realize it.

Funny how most "news" sites turned off comments on their articles this year.

Wonder why they did that?...

I use duck duck go as well. I hate that google sticks tracking cookies on your browser to tailor adds "just for you". If it were just for me there would be no damn adds, period.

From wiki entry you listed:

n August 2019, Yippy CEO Rich Granville announced a "Digital Soldiers Conference" for the following month in Atlanta. The stated purpose was to prepare "patriotic social media warriors" for a coming "digital civil war." The announcement for the event prominently displayed a Q spelled in stars on the blue field of an American flag, and Granville had numerous references to the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon on his Twitter account. Granville denied the Q flag was a QAnon reference, although he acknowledged espousing QAnon views and doubted it is a conspiracy theory.[6] Granville described Yippy as an "intelligence enterprise" with high-level connections to the Trump White House, telling a reporter, "You don’t know who you’re diddlying with."[7]

Been using it for years and satisfied with it.  Nice not having K Wrap popping up.
