I seldom deal in absolutes, especially in trivial matters.  :old:

Trivial for sure. Just watch the movie or not. Nobody cares.

 Just my opinion.

A classic, certainly.  I remember the TV ads for it when it was coming to, or playing in, your neighborhood.  Scared the heck out of me.  By the time I got to college, everyone knew "klaatu, barada, nickto."

Still, tough to compete with "Alien."

I remember, as a kid, the very first “Saturday Night at the Movies” on tv.  Quite the event, not having to pay for a movie in the theater.

From a spooky scifi perspective, its a staple film discussed in film school universities - similar to how Shakespeare is discussed in education.

However, The Terminator, like Alien, is another classic scifi movie and often used in film schools to educate them on action sequences. A great film (apart from the half-dozen spinoff films).

I am trying to remember the name of the movie....   rocks from space hit earth. They start growing into towers. As they get tall, they fall over and crash to pieces. Then each piece starts growing....

I think this one has a really interesting and worthwhile sci fi story.   Plus Ann Francis, and Robby the Robot.   I want to rewatch it sometime.

Another one from the 50s that's fun to watch is "The Thing From Another World".   James Arness plays the monster.  Really stereotyped characters and situations but fun nevertheless.
