Guys, if you have a 3d printer and a bit of patience, you can now print a full scale spitfire control column for simulation flight.  The 3d designs and files are provided free by Phil at Authentikit.org. The design looks really good, and it should be pretty high quality in terms of stick travel resolution as it used hall effect sensors. Being a total spitfire freak, I saw the videos, bought a 3d printer and ordered in the electronics kit (yup... they have a pre-packaged kit with all the wiring, sensors and other crap that you need to make the stick work).
As a side note, it turns out that 3d printing is both less expensive than I thought, and a lot more fascinating as well.

I'll post a video on my youtube channel when I finally get it done. Given how long the learning curve is going to be for me, it could be a while! 
Authentikit hopes to create a community of designers to make all manner of controls for Flight sims.
I think a BF109 stick is in the works now, and Phil spends a lot of time working with others in the discord to develop other new designs.

True, but the base allows for nine  additional inputs. (not counting  Throttle/HOTAS controller)
I intend to add a throttle/mix control, flaps, and trim for elevator and rudder.  I only fly in VR so I don't need a lot of view keys, but since it's tough to use the keyboard, it will be nice to drop my hand from My CH Throttle and have it fall onto the mix lever, with a trim wheel equally at hand. The downside will be that it makes the play area a little more crowded. And of course, the authentikit maker community will be working on more modern sticks as well. Anyhow, it will make the elevator and rudder control feel more realistic as the 'throw' for each direction will be longer and make for better precision.
