Different Zoom For Guns
« on: January 18, 2021, 09:27:51 AM »
I wish that when I am in a gun, the zoom setting is separate from the zoom setting in an airplane or vehicle.  If I am in a gun, and I zoom in, then the same zoom setting is applied when I get back in my airplane, and I have to readjust the zoom.  We have different controls for guns and vehicles and airplanes, we should have different zoom settings for each.

I just have a button for zoom in/out. I adjust zoom in to my preference then just toggle back and forth.

Yes, so do I.  But when I get in a gun, I need to zoom in farther to see the target.  Then when I get back in my plane the zoom is off because of what I did in the gun.

If you have a joystick/throttle with an extra rotary switch you can map it to be an adjustable zoom.

I find aiming while zoomed in more difficult. I think its due to my muscle memory as I tend to overcontrol when zoomed in. I usually use it to for GV hunting.

AKAK wished a while back for there to be the option to have a zoom setting saved.. same as other views... I liked this wish... I did think it had a positive remark from Hitech... but I could be wrong as I am still waiting for the day....

i zoom about 50% when i shoot.. setting that zoom when switching from gvs to planes requires using cockpit references..its nore annoying for me, and could help a new guy getting used to the gunnery.

First of all, +1 to the OP.

Interesting to see how other people use zoom.  When I'm gunning in an airplane, I'm either zoomed all the way out or if I'm tail chasing a runner/taking a far shot, all the way in.  If I'm zoomed partially, it completely destroys my timing.

The only time I am zoomed somewhere in between is in a ground gun.

If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

This gives a whole new meaning to boom and zoom.

I feel zooming only 50 percent allows me some more magnification of my target, and the ability to track him and lead him during his evasive moves.  If my tracking gets lost, i zoom back out for the wider field of view.  I basically go to my zoom when i feel i have a shot, and if I feel its lost, im back out at no zoom for better tracking.

If it can be implemented.

Going from CV guns to a plane I forget I was zoomed in all the way and remember right when I get behind a red guy...have to change it while trying to stay with them or shoot
They're casting their bait over there, see?
