New Country Switching Feature
« on: February 21, 2021, 09:28:44 AM »
Sad to see the latest attempt to cut down on the bish 3 to 1 hoard has stopped working.  I guess we have to realize that most bish are bish for just that reason, to always have a numbers advantage.  Its a shame but to me this is what is really killing the game.  I like defending to a point and I will just log off when it hits 2 or 3 to 1.  The bish don't want it to be even numbers.  Makes them have to work to thump their chests and succeed with even numbers.  A lot go bish just to hide in the numbers and really don't want even play.  Just my honest opinion on the latest attempt to curb the hoard.  Sad to se it not working again.

Let me start with: This is only my opinion based on my experiences.

In defense of Bish. In my experience flying all sides at all different times, the Bish seem to have the best ability to get a greater number of their teammates all working for or supporting a specific goal. Of course this varies with the time of day.

In my experience, the Nits ability to do this varies with the time of day. It can sometimes be very good and sometimes non-existent.

As for the Rooks, in my experience they all do whatever it is they they want to do at the moment. They seem to rarely focus together on a specific goal. Of course like the others this varies with the time of day.

Based on my experiences stated above, I prefer to fly with Bish even if the ENY is crazy high because if feels more like a team.

I am on the auto switch program, and agree 100% with this analysis.  Well.. all of it but the last sentence.  I prefer the country with the best fights.

Here's the problem. Some of the maps are too big, this creates the advantage for bish during the off hours. Heres why:

What I've been seeing happening is, when the map is too big, the bish can attack multiple bases with 15 -20 organized players. This means the defending teams with only  8 players cannot defend them all. It makes it easy for the bish to scoop up indefensible bases to get the 20%. Then they go to the next team and do the same thing. The bish have a big squad that plays in the early hours, so it's very difficult to beat their coordination.  Once the #s start building up for the other 2 sides, it makes it harder for for bish to win.

Then what you see happening is, since the bish have got 20% of one team, and 15% of the other. Once the #s pick up for the other teams, they start going after bish. So now we have both sides going after bish. The bish team gets ganged on both sides and cannot do anything even with the highest #s. I've been seeing for a few months now that most of the fights are both teams teaming up on bish to knock their side to 60% fields while the other 2 teams don't even attack each other. This is because they want bish to not be able to take all of the bases back during the off hours to win the map.

One of the biggest problems is defending bases from the bish during the off hours. If the back bases are too far, no one wants to roll from them to defend the horde of bish. If my team only has 8 players. Its going to be very hard to convince even 2 other players to roll from a far back field to fly there and attempt to defend against 8 bish. Generally the defenders will die quickly to 15K p51s that bring em low and then will get ganged. Thus wasting about 10-20 min getting alt to defend their forward base. I find this problem all of the time. No one or very few will roll from a back field to defend because they are too far for off hours.

With smaller maps and shorter fields during off hours. It would make it a little bit harder for bish to steal so many undefended bases on both sides.

I feel like rooks and knights mostly go after bish to push them back during day time hours and it has created this unbalance for a while now. And switching to bish to help them doesn't sit well when they already have the #s.

This is the predicament I've been seeing for a few months now.

Raise the perk multiplier. When lots of people have the autoswitch checked countries stay even. Everyone I have discussed this with said the reason they no longer have it checked is the perk multiplier amount.

I still have it checked as I like the feature.

Can people STILL be that hard up for perks? How many is enough? How often do they use them and on what?

There are so many comments that the game is "full of old timers with a ton of experience" which Im sure translates easily into a crap ton of perks. I cant see where the "we need more perks" is such a big draw.

So they really don't care about even teams, just easier perks. Sad

They do not care about the game or their fellow players. It's all about me me me.

This has been true of each team at different times in Aces High history.  It all depends on who is on the team.  There was a time on Rooks that whenever certain people got together, there was no stopping that team.  We have this wonderful playground.  It is up to us to make the most of it.

Exactly.... you can blame the game, but it's the people. We have a lot of freedom here. We can make it work or break it.

The flip side is to add more limitations. We have seen the multitude of threads when that happens.

I went on a team hopping spree for a few months before the auto switch, and this is largely my experience as well.

I have been mainly a knight for 2 years, and sometimes when we get together and get some momentum, we start to roll up a teams base till we get stopped. I believe we call  it "teabagging" :)  - and its fun to do, but not receive/defend against base-after-base.

AH provided a way for the players to fix the issue and balance themselves and the game.

If the game is full of little egos who have to always win then I am not sure any fix would work.

I would prefer that the auto-switch only activate after a safe landing -- not after a bail, ditch, or death.  That would allow me to stay in a fight that I was enjoying (even though I would forfeit perks and score by intentionally ditching).  It would also prevent a switch from attacking to defending the same field.  I am easily confused.   :old:

Wow, so that's how it works?  I haven't had time to mess with this new feature, but if I understand Popeye's post after every bail, death, etc. you could be bumped to the lesser side?   Well so much for the Bish capturing a rook CV/port and hiding it in the back corner of the map now.

May as well make the map visible to everyone then which will eliminate the "shade" accounts. Oh wait, AH would lose income....nvm.

Many may view that as a good thing.
