Map resets = mass logging
« on: March 07, 2021, 09:24:43 PM »
Wonder if there is anyway when a map is won and reset if  all the players could go into a holding area so that we don't have a mass exodus. Perhaps a 2nd melee arena can be created during the 4 minute warning period and when players are disconnected from the melee arena they get transferred there?

I think we understand the need of the reset - and the risk of loosing logged in players when it happens. It's just that HT would have to redesign the game so that players move into a 'lobby' while the map resets. I'm just not sure that would solve the issue.

But do all the arenas get reset along with the MA? I guess I'm saying why instead of booting the from the main server can they not get sent to a new arena (the next MA). The question is if it is feasible or reasonably easy to program.

you would have lots of players that couldn't land their kills or pings.

Are you sure those people are actually in flight and not just sitting in the tower and forgot to log off?

I've been on late many times where there's 10 people logged on in my country and I'm the only one in flight...

The other arenas dont get reset at the same time unless its Hitech doing the resetting. Many of us use to jump into WWI for 10 minutes or so until the numbers came up in the MA and then jump back in.

I believe the flight your on when the arena resets and the war is won dosnt count. I think only the kills are totaled but score/perks, landed, ditched crashed or killed after the "The war has been won" message is wiped.

You keep the kills and deaths after war has won, but it will not count as a sortie if you are still in it when it times out.  You have 5 minutes to end your sortie if you want it to count.

Go into the WW1 arena. It is a blast.

I have only noticed numbers go down when it is really late.......but I don't play as often as I used to so you know more about
that than I do Atlau

I am an I.T. pro, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what is going on behind the scenes during a reset.  If I am right, your wish would be rather complicated to implement.

Yes I believe that "other" arena already exists.  It is the WWI arena.  Lots of good sticks fly in there.  Be prepared for some good fights.  They will just be much closer and lower to the ground.

So my question is could he theoretically log people into the ww1 arena automatically rather than get kicked from the server?

You also have the choice of AvA and/or Match Play.

I agree here. I definitely think that it should kick you back to the screen that shows the arenas to choose from, rather than kick you out of the whole game, or automatically put players who wait until it ends, to load them into the new map. Kicking them all the way out of the game creates a great excuse to go do something else.

I agree kicking to the arena page would be a plus.  Logging someone into a particular arena would almost be annoying.

Thats why I proposed logging them into the "secondary main arena" (2 main arenas? Thats crazy!)
