Than to see red with a - next to it's range. Come at me  :neener:

It's become my favorite thing about this game. Nothing tickles me more than getting intercepted :salute

The opportunity to come in and control the airspace or disrupt, to engage multiple bandits in quick succession, to lend support when a friendly is in need on the ground or in the air.

Hitting static ground targets have become secondary to my play style. It's the fight I play for. A necessary means to an end.

Used to be fun stuff.

Unless I absolutely have to hit a target you can typically find me under 5k. I refuse to climb above 25k anymore. Enjoyed a nice trip to a city strat in 29's earlier today and was intercepted by a pair of 262's. Had I climbed above 30k that interaction would have never taken place. Even then I feel like I was too high but I refuse to give up the advantage when it matters the most. Knowing when and where to attack, controlling the fight based on my flight path, and allowing the interceptor to play to my strengths are critical to success. I am most comfortable when I can trade ALT for E and bring the fight near or on the deck.

With all of my banter about success and enjoyment, without my B-17's, lancs, and 29's I would be helpless like most players who fly bombers. It is more the plane than my skill as a player but after 11 years I have learned to get the most out of these 3 planes beyond what only a few have ever been capable of doing.

Most useful for defending the ships when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour.

From the first post in this thread, I was reminded of some movie dialogue, which I was finally able to locate.  Anybody recognize this exchange?

Daphne Caldwell: So you're enjoying the war?
Captain Buzz Rickson: I like my work.
Daphne Caldwell: Work?
Captain Buzz Rickson: Lady, I belong to the most destructive group of men the world has ever known. That's my work.

I remember the first time a absolutely flattened a town with a set of B-29s, just a couple months ago.   Even in a game, it's something to wield that much destructive power.

The 80th used to meetup with another squad in B-24s and dogfight just off the map of the day. Was a hoot and lasted for a long time.

I remember flying a C47 Many years ago with 999000 providing cover (right above me, his bottom gunner gave my pilot the bird) on the way to a town...

Ah the days when i was a young man 😁

Lancaster's are delicious.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.
