This is the Yak-3 of Captain Fateev Mikhail Stepanovich while CO of the 145th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment in 1945. Stepanovich flew 133 combat sorties from mid 1942 until the end of the war, with a break recovering from injuries received in a flying accident. He flew a diverse collection of aircraft including I-15, I-16, Hurricanes and several types of Yak fighter and shot down two enemy fighters. After the war he remained in the service, retiring in 1955 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
