For histories sake I would not mind at all flying in a D40.  I don't need the latest.  History for me is where it is at.

Any chance of including the D40 as well?    Sure, use the performance of the P-47M as a recruiting tool if that's the only way to entice more players to sign up for the scenario, but also make an option available for players who would prefer the immersion and historical accuracy offered by the D40?

It's just a thought.  I'm still in either way, but I don't see a significant downside to catering to both groups.

I understand.

But P-47M's are easier to fill, and competitive with fewer planes.

If you still have questions, please message me rather than continuing the discussion here in this recruiting/advertising/promotion topic.

As Brooke said, mainly playability. D40s were in the original write-up and I was going to have Greebo do a 48th FG skin as that is who I tracked down to be closest to our area of ops.

While I think the D40 would be able to hold its own, the M will have a better time versus the Dora, K4, 152 and easier to fill. The other alternative was to have only Ponies, but I found that difficult to justify considering the sheer number of Jug squads (14) as opposed to Ponies (2). It is very well known that the 56th is the only unit to operate Ms, but we definitely wanted the Jug to be represented.

Understood.  Being a bit of a 9th AF junkie these days what I imagine and the reality of what you need to use to make it work conflicts.   Obviously the 474th and their 38s were there until the end.  But it was a ground attack war, and I'm guessing this is more escort to the 26s?  So air combat is the priority not the fighter bomber war they were hard at.

Whatever works :)

Originally it was both. After discussion, compromising, and whatnot it is this. We opted for something not 8th AF, but wanted a late war event. The Jug is an unfortunate thorn in the side. P-38s can't really compete, we fear, in this setup with the numbers we have these days. There is a lot of lesser evil stuff here and we hope it is enjoyable for all.
