Perk the carriers
« on: March 30, 2022, 06:37:58 PM »
There was a discussion among the rooks today that if we would only perk the aircraft carriers this game would be perfect . Would we give perks for damage done with ships gun and aircraft shot down? Would you be able to bump somebody off a boat with more perks? This would keep the newbies of off the boats .Its old hands would be able to control the boats and rightfully so .
I do think the damage done whether with guns or aircraft shot down should be scored ! :x :x :x

You are a nutcase with carriers.

Cane has what's called carrier hoarder obsessive compulsive disorder (CHOCD).

Time for some therapy.
Leave that thing alone!

Cane, capybara, Vrachoo, Haggus, and Havrmyr should be required to attend "Don't be a dick to other players trying to have fun" therapy sessions.

Show us where they are not being scored, please...because I was unaware that it had changed...

Or are you asking for it to show in the text buffer,  like  it does for the bombers etc...

CV's whose aircraft are not used in combat within 1 hour of the CV spawning should respawn at the port.

No more using CV's to sneak bases unopposed.

Yes, they do.  If a player ups a plane, PT boat, or LVT, the base being attacked starts flashing.

On a different note, I wish HT would raise the lower limit of the dar to like 75 or 80 feet.  As is, as far as I can recollect, it is set at 65 feet.

There is/was a player who would taxi a plane up to the end of the carrier deck and leave it.  When you spawn on a carrier, your are at 60 feet alt.  Most planes are more than 5 feet high, so guess what happened? That triggered the base to flash, and also triggered a dar bar for the other countries to see.

I told HT about it once on a phone call, dunno if he checked it out and adjusted it, would have to check.

The conversation Cane  was referring to went from amusing at first, watching players taking control of a fleet, then watching another take over, then another, rinse and repeat.
It didn't take long for it to get old, to the point that I squelched one of the players who was going on and on and on about how much an idiot he thought the other was.  The very vocal player spent way too much time telling others what they could do with which fleet, which one was being hidden, etc., so much so that I finally just moved to another area to ignore the drama.

I don't care what country the side switching put me on, or who is in control of the fleets.........I see the same thing over and over and over again:  Players take the fleets in close, enemy swarms the fleet, sends bombers out from that base and nearby ones, soon the fleet is sunk.  No one ever seems to remember to CAP the fleets, ever.  One of the rules the USN
observed during WW2 in the Pacific was to NOT send a fleet within range of land based bombers, not if it was possible to strike from outside their range.  I spend more time trying to fly CAP for fleets than anything else, cause you know there are gonna be a lot of buffs coming in to take out the CV.  That is if I can reach them and they are not deep in enemy territory.

Covering a fleet can be fun on it's own merit.

Once a plane ups, it will flash. But there are cowards who will use the cruiser to white flag a town and pork a hangar and as long as no one flies from the boat, the base will never flash. That's stupid.

I'd like to see it changed so that if no planes are used in combat within an hour of the CV spawning at a port, it simply respawns at the port because it's either being used for a stealth base take or sailed out into the middle of nowhere. Keep the CV's in play and used to make fights.

How about if they are not used within a certain period, they blip on the map.

As long as it's within a reasonable distance of an enemy base, that will work. Still does not prevent sailing the ship to the edge of the map.
