My original idea here was to adopt and update Kev367th's 72 Squadron Spitfire skin for next month's BoB event. However when I researched the aircraft he skinned "RN-K/L1065" I found it to be historically incorrect as L1065 was never assigned to that squadron. Lyric1 found me some nice photos of a different 72 Squadron Spit Mk I but this was a 1941 aircraft and I wanted a 1940 Spit. However I did find a photo of L1065 in its correct guise, 609 Squadron's "PR-E". So I decided to still adopt Kev's skin and just rename it "609S" when it is submitted.
This Spitfire Mk I L1065 was flown by Sergeant Alan Feary, the only NCO pilot of 609 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Three of his five aircraft he shot down during the battle were while flying this aircraft but he was himself shot down and killed in a different Spitfire in October.
