Players that are gone but not forgotten.
« on: July 31, 2022, 04:16:46 PM »
So what are some memorable names from the past that stand out to you?

Daddog (332n'd Flying Mongrels) first squad I joined and full of just damn good guys.
Stampf (JG 11) got to be his wingman.  On of the finest commanders in the history of ever. He actually posted that I was his best wingman ever months after I left the game.  It may seem silly but it meant a lot to me.
Skyrock.  his acerbic humor and wicked tongue on the boards were always worth reading.  The best part is when he put his name on something he was right 99.999% of the time.
Murdr.  Dude was a beast but such a class act all the time.  'how the hell did you do that?' 'oh let me show you'.
INK.  Still a dear personal friend to this day.  Got my first two and only tats I'll ever get from him.  And that diddlyer slaughtered me like a new born baby seal every time he saw me.
Shifty.  Dude had a passion and a love for the game.  Taught me more about ACM than anybody else and how to focus on paying my knowledge forward.  Class act all the way.
Widewing.  Another font of knowledge.  When he posted I read with interest because I knew I was going to learn about something new.

Couple of mentions because I can't remember their in game handles.

John the mechanic.  Dude has helped out of more car problem jams than I can count.  Guess that's why I forgot his handle.

Dr. Dave.  GI.  Literally saved my exes life when he suggested her problem may be crohns and turns out it was from 1300 miles away.  So class a dude.  I HATED asking him for advice but I was desperate when she weighed 85 lbs, couldn't walk, and in ICU constantly.

I know I'm missing out on several but those are the ones that leap to mind at the moment.

Teerex... Yah yah
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.—Dwight Eisenhower, April 16, 1953

Mark is genuinely a good dude. Many long nights on the phone with him. Miss the old Mark.

Rarely agreed with him but the dude knew his history and his acerbic sense of humor was legendary.

The one that always comes to mind whenever I am online is CPTDell. He passed back in 2013 but my memories of being a young high school kid, logging on during a snow day to drive 3 hours to down a base are still fresh. Those sorts of memories will always stick, even if I never met him in person.

Pipz and Alaskn.

Loose Deuce squadron, gone from AH, but have been resurrected elsewhere.

Scenario Administrators, that prolonged my life in AH with more than a year.
