Local produce

Certain times of the year are definitely better than others. I grew a garden all my life and got spoiled. The stuff in the grocery stores most of the time I won't eat.

But I just stocked up and it is hard not to stuff your self this time of year.

Local Purple Cherokee Tomatoes

Zack can only get green peas.

I miss living in Oregon, we had an absolutely incredible farmer's market. Here in Texas all our our gardening attempts have resulted in a very brown garden, or bugs and birds eating everything.

hmmm.. Tig.. my garden grows quite well here in TX.  Might want to look into a couple of things like the PH in your soil, what kind of soil you're using, and so on.  I re use Coast of Maine soil or HP Promix in my outdoor garden after I've done a run in it for my indoor. 

Also your nutrients might come into play.  I used Greenleaf Nutrients megacrop and sweet candy for my tomatoes, peppers, etc... it does well.  I do cut it by half because it's a little 'hot' for some plants especially early in life.

I have a few fruit trees that if I want anything off of them, I have to keep killing the squirrels that are stealing the fruit before they rob the tree clean.

I live in an area full of small farms and home growers, stone throw from open air market which is full of sellers twice a week. No GMs or chemicals.

Airsoft pistol (gas blowback).  Runs em off, is non lethal so you don't have to collect carcasses, and is endless fun when getting rid of squirrels, neighbors yappy kids, etc.

I envy people with gardens. I live alone and I'm a plant murderer. I've killed strawberries, peppers and tomatoes.

I figure if I did have a producing garden, I'd not be able to eat most of it myself.

My ideal situation would be to have a little bit of land, a nice garden and  maybe some chickens or other animals. I'd really like that a lot.

I prefer lethal so they dont come back, for good. I just chuck the dead ones in the garbage can and garbage truck takes them away every week. The stink keeps noisy neighbors away too

GG if you ever want some tips just hit me up with a DM.  I learned a lot about growing over the last 8 years.  One of my favorite discoveries was there's a lot of auto tech out there that will keep your plants watered and nuted correctly and all you have to do is check your liquid levels occasionally.  I have big plans for my outdoor garden next year.
