Greatest soundtrack for a kids adventure series. Evar.

Something from the past I wanted to share with you guys.  Maybe some of you remember:

One of the things I feel fortunate to have grown up with was the animated TV series "Johnny Quest".  And one of the absolute best things about this series was the soundtrack music.   The Hanna Barbera Orchestra under the direction of Hoyt Curtin was just astonishingly good.  Such a tight brass section.   The action-packed or suspenseful score really added so much to every episode, and I still love to listen to it.  Very much a 60s jazz feel.

"Hoyt Curtain was a world class composer and arranger. He just happened to fall in to the animation business. I can only imagine if a mind like his had stumbled into film scoring. Musicians loved/feared playing his charts. Millions of people watching these shows had no idea about the depth and intricacy of these scores. Beautiful music can happen in the most unexpected places."

Some of me person favorites, with their time stamps:

The Robot Spy -
Wild Chase (36:32)

Dragons of Ashida -
Drum Chase (1:17:12)

The Curse of Anubis -
Rising Pulse to Shock/Native Drums Into Scramble (17:07)

I had a dog like bandit, except it was a girl and only had one spot on the top of her head.

Her name was Miss”T” cause I pity the fool who would have touched me or my wife around her.

Perhaps the greatest animated WWI fighter combat engagement of all time?

At least to a young kid growing up in the late 60s.

Johnny Quest is so awesome.  I LOVED that show.

And thank you very much for posting that link.  Some great music in there, for sure.

It is interesting to me that the music for various shows way back when was quite good.

Some modern ones where I like the tunes:

Venture Brothers (inspired by Johnny Quest):

Cowboy Beebop:

Awesome stuff Brooke.  Especially the Cowboy Bebop stuff; that's great.   Venture Bros looks like a reboot of Johnny Quest.

It's a comedic takeoff on Johnny Quest.  For me, it was awesome and hilarious.
