Baffled. Control buttons work 2D, but not in VR

This just happened to me the other night.  I have an Oculus Rift S, which I've enjoyed very much (thanks, Drano!).  For some reason it has disabled my button selections on my CH throttle and Fighterstick.  They all work if I don't select VR, but once I'm in VR, they don't.

Ideas on solutions are most welcome.  I expect that it's some simple button push I did wrong, but it is distressing.

Is it that none of the buttons work or that the mapping has disappeared? Look in map controllers, bring up a controller and operate them push the buttons, etc. Are things registering? Axii moving? Button presses? If so then you're gonna have to re-map everything! Or, if all your commands are the same in 2d and VR, make copies of all your 2d maps for each controller and rename them to the VR maps.

I've had my mapping just up and disappear enough that once I got it working I saved them all to a zip file so I could just zap them back! Really annoying in the middle of a frame of FSO! One night it happened multiple times!

Oh and I've had it happen with the RiftS and now with a reverb g2 so it's not the headset. Yes, it's quite the head scratcher.

Yeah I remember. I reached out to HT about it too and he didn't have an answer either. It's just so weird. Hard to duplicate because it's so random. The last clue I got was that it had maybe something to do with the TPM on newer systems and a memory glitch. The answer was to try to switch to a discrete module which I've purchased but haven't had time to plug in and test. No FSO this week so might have a sec.

OM? What are you system specs? Let's see if there's some common thread.

Without having it in front of me IIRC you're looking at your settings folder. Save all of the .jsm files to a folder you can find quickly to do a quick copy/paste of them or a zip so you can just zap them back to the settings folder. This will put the controller mapping back but you might have to calibrate axii again once done. You should have two sets for each controller that you use. One has a VR prefix (or suffix, I forget. You'll see it).

FYI, this hasn't happened to me in a while. At least not the extreme total mind erase version. I'm still getting the little stutter that's putting my throttle and rpm's to half but that's the extent of it. I tried installing the TPM chip on my X570-E mobo which some had reported to be a fix for this. I didn't notice a change. It's still stuttering. And only in AH. Happens in no other sims or apps.

This was an issue for me as well!  My Niece(ULblizz) struggled with this same issue,. Rift S!  IIR... "Spawn to Run Way...THEN MAP BUTTONS"? I distinctly remember, this worked in ULBlizz's situation? Or was it , Assign Buttons in the Tower?  It was one of the two!Didnt use CH Hotas Set up..DID NOT USE CH's Mapping Wizard/Programs "They all work if I don't select VR"  ????  VR and NON VR settings are saved in separate folders.  As Drano suggested....If you save settings...simple Copy Paste..back in the fight...until it happens again OLDMAN...was great to see you on, last couple of evenings!!!   LNG accepted your challenge...in a SpitV?    Bro that hurt me...he got you! First question, did you program the controller while IN VR? They are completely separate from the non VR settings.

Easiest way to do them is navigate to the settings folder and copy each .jsm file to the desktop. Rename each one by adding a VR_ in front of the file name. Save them and return them to the settings folder clicking ok to replace the one in the folder.

That should get you going. Copy and save the settings fold to use as a replacement if you lose your settings.
