Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, which is an adoption of the second of Airmess' two Tempest skins. He named it "246S" but this should be "274S" so I'll rename it during the submission process.
This 274 Squadron Tempest was flown by Flight Lieutenant David Fairbanks in late 1944. It has the rear fuselage-only D Day stripes used on RAF aircraft from October until the end of the year. On the 19th November it was hit by AA fire in the port wing tank starting a fire along the port fuselage and tail surfaces which burned off most of the rudder fabric. Luckily though the Tempest had metal-covered elevators so once the fire was out Fairbanks was able to fly it back to base and land safely and for this he was awarded a DFC. A month after this incident he used this same aircraft to shoot down two Bf109s in a single sortie.
