SAR missions?

Hi guyz!
First post to this forum.
Just a curious thought....
Did they (anybody) conduct airborne SAR missions?
Certain planes certainly seem suitable for the job  ;).

SAR missions?

All sides undertook SAR  issions, pilots are just too valuble to use.

Initialy, during the BoB, the Luftwaffe was much better organised at this, but the allieds did catch up.

In fact, it was a common usage of war weary Jugs, who would carry a "drop tank" type container containing a dingy with basic suplies to sustain the downed pilot until a suitable pick up (usualy either a MTB, PBY or an Otter) arrived.
