73 Squadron Spitfire

Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, which is an adoption of one done by Kev367th in 2006.

This Spitfire Mk IX was part of 73 Squadron RAF while based at Hassani Airfield near Athens in 1945. The inter-war style blue and yellow fuselage marking was used on all this squadron's aircraft in place of the officially mandated two letter code system. Unusually the under-wing roundels on this aircraft were moved outboard to the wing tips, something not normally seen after 1940. 73 squadron fought in the Battles of France and Britain but from late 1940 was based exclusively in the Med, fighting in Africa, Italy, the Balkans and Greece.
