Have you gotten better or worse
« on: April 08, 2023, 11:56:02 PM »
Just wondering if VR has actually made you better? I have watched tracker IRs view the rear section a lot easier than VR. Being able to keep eyes on without changing views is very helpful in many situations.

Have you noticed you have gotten better with VR or just stick to it because immersion and depth?

Better

It takes a bit to adjust..I had to learn to look through the gunsight and use as just a reference

But after that the immersion makes some great deflection shots

Spotting pre icon range is better imo also

Definitely better.  Can’t get any closer to reality with anything else.  There’s definitely an adjustment period, as Eagler mentioned.  Once used to it, you’ll never go back.

Better for sure. Depth perception is vastly improved. Immersion is complete. No longer looking at the cockpit on a monitor---you're sitting in the cockpit. I think even my historically pathetic gunnery is improved.

It does take some getting used to looking around. The hat switches still work.

Better, BY FAR! I set my Niece up with VR, when she just started :devil   She held her own, against more than a few Seasoned Players...so YES  Better!  I blame SIS!!! :rofl

Seems gunsight center can be off easier in vr

I punch the center front view button repeatedly to counter this when in combat

One of the drawbacks is the limited FOV, it makes high angle high closure rate deflection shoots alittle tougher for me. I don't think the difference from IR to VR is as significant as Hatswitch to IR.

VR is a blast, as a fighter pilot it is an overall net benefit. I think its kind of a pain when level bombing and GVing. Worth a try though, makes the game quite abit more immersive

Having a tough time with aim as well as watching different pad views in vr. Everything seems zoomed in, almost too much. In VR are you able to adjust your FOV? Have had a rough go so far

Not really, its locked at 90 and can only be zoomed in with the normal zoom function.

You can change your head position in each view though. Lean back as far as the view goes and hit F10. if you like it move on to the next one. I still use a pinky switch to raise up in the seat to look over the nose without having to jump out of my seat!

What Fugi said about f10

I had to do all views including straight up on all planes

Default was way too close

Thanks. It has helped some with recentering and moving back.

I did some digging through the forums. Using left and right to check 6 views made more sense for my mind while in vr so it wasn’t so disorienting. I’m sure it is just practice and muscle memory. Appreciate the help, the little fine tuning details make the biggest difference once you are familiar with this game or any game in general

Centered on which eye?
Also you can save your default position with F10.

It'd be great if the VR mirror would display the right eye. Currently it displays the left. Reason being there are quite a few birds that have the gunsight offset to the right eye. The LW birds especially although I discovered the P47D-11 also is offset to the right. In order to record game capture you have to shift your cockpit view way to the right in order to be looking through the gunsight straight thru the left eye in your recording. Unnaturally right.

As far as hps adjustment in VR, I used to be able to pause VR and use the arrow keys to adjust when I had an Oculus. Can't seem to do it with WMR. I just move around and F10 it now.

Right I guess but seems like I am looking through the soght with both

F10 doesn'thelp with center as the center reference is different each time you look away and then back to target

That's why I punch the center view button repeatedly to keep center centered
