What Are The Range Thresholds.
« on: April 12, 2023, 10:39:41 PM »
Just to make sure I’m not thinking about it because bow I am. When does 1000K become 800K? Is it at the change from 1,000K to 999K? Is it the switch from 801K to 800K? Or is it somewhere in between?

So on down the line all the way to you passed the plane K. Oopsie!  :joystick:

Iirc the change happens at the distance displayed.  So if it says the are 800 out then they are between 800-601, once they get to 600 it will display 600 until they are 400 out.

And just to be clear they are not 1000k, or 800k, they are 1.0k, or 800. The k signifies 1000. The distance is yards, so a plane 1.0k above you is actually 3,000 feet above you.

Hope that helps.

:aok   I’ve been looking for that table, didn’t want to give wrong info.

Mr snail do you happen to have the table for the distance the different rounds travel?

I don't think I have ever seen that one. Isn't maximum travel distance depending on plane speed and altitude (air density)?

I thought there was a table,30mm and under and for the 37mm and larger.

IIRC it was a timed thing multiplied by MV. Something like 2.2 seconds come to mind.

I could be wrong, heavens knows my mind has been elsewhere lately.

are you sure, if I'm in a tail chase and he's 1K in front of me and he pulls into vertical clime, and I'm directly behind him climbing and he hasn't pulled away and I haven't gained, you say he's not 3K ahead of me???

I'm sure 1,000 yards equal 3,000 feet.

12 inches make 1 foot, 3 feet makes 1 yard. And then we run out of logic as 1 mile is 1760 yards..

Lag has no influence on your own shooting, as you just have to hit the plane represented on your screen.
Having to take into account the enemy's relative position on his front end when firing the guns would make the game near impossible to play at times. When it comes to shooting at the enemy, AH is strictly WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get.

Lag comes into play on the defense - your enemy might have a shot at you when you think you are already outside his gun arc. This is a result of the above.
