Film pulled me in a few times.  Was cool to see a film like this.  Really liked how many aspects (audio, editing, storytelling) improved throughout the releases.  Looking forward to watching your next one.

I have some great shots I could not use, maybe better. i tried to get one 3 minute fight to 1 min..... kinda destroyed it. If I get bored I might do a dogfight vid. Looking more towards scenarios next time. But i should use those shots up tho.

Still the gold standard:

("Come With Me" from IL-2.)

In the words of Randy Jackson "it's just gonna be an aight for me dawg."

The coolest part was coming into zero cockpit in the beginning, but I was getting dizzy with all those camera directions changing every second.

Yeah.  They had as many as four planes in some of the cuts.  Good illustration of the difference between IL2 and AH.

They were creating a video, not furballing in an MA.

Its really hard to capture a real furball even in wide view, it moves too fast out of view, and in a wide shot it just looks like dots moving around. Not impossible to get some of these shots with a fixed cam. But it will be short.  I tried. Unless you catch a 3 on one shot. I didn’t want anything staged. I got 3-4 in a shot, but not all in view at the same time. Scene didn’t fit. The films I had they were not that tightly grouped.  I may have had better luck with VR. But panning with viewer can look amateur But staging it would work.

Looks like it was staged promo..

Another point. IL-2 planes move through space, but IMO, they appear to be actually flying in air. The movement if AH like oks more realistic. Great damage model though.  We need that update.

Could you clarify this statement - I can't follow what you mean, and I am interested in the differences between IL-2 and AH aircraft movement  (as represented in films).   Also, the video Vraciu linked was from IL-2 1946 I believe; I think IL-2 Great Battles is ETO and Eastern Front aircraft only, but the aircraft have a much higher polygon count, and Great Battles may also handle bare shiny metal reflectivity differently from 1946.

Something got porked there. I can’t follow what I mean. On ph at 3a
I’m just relying on video, I don’t play it.
IL-2 planes seem to move differently then AH planes. I’m not convinced they are flying through air. Where as AH planes do, to me. Can’t really pick it out why, its very subtle. Could be the difference of FM>?

Just a clarification for derogatory replies.
Nope, out of 2M in my biz, anyone who thinks they are very important, or better than snyone else is a fool. There is always lessor and greater. Its an eternal learning pricess to your last day. Anyone who think they know it all stop learning, because they know it all. Their milage will vary. A know it all is likely to mislead who ever they teach. I try to bring some back down to earth so their skills stand above their arrogance. Its ok to be humble. You’ll keep learning new tricks.

I don’t fit the common industry mold. I’m more like Opie from Mayberry who accidentally fell into an odd job, when in the 80s recession it was just a way to make money.

Many did a show and went to party. I did a show and went fishing.

I was just hoping enough rubbed off on me to creat a decent fresh looking video. This is my first vid ever.

Even if someone saw me as top shelf, i never thought I was. I’m not the best at  anything.

Just sayin.

When this came out I think we were still in AH2.   IL-2 had progressed a lot since then.

One reason that video is so good is it tells a story.   You can see a narrative within it.   The physics look great to me.   Just look at that Zeke honking around after splashing an SBD.

Just have to find places to place the link to get eyes… Facebook, other game forums, Reddit YouTube comment sections…you get the idea. Find places with like minded folks. I think many people interested in this style of play don’t even know this game exists.

I’m not even going to critique the film. I just really appreciate the time and effort that Animl took to try and get a step forward. With the numbers dwindling anything is better than nothing. Big <S>

True enough. I think a story slow keep attention for longer videos.
I think the fact there are more sims then the past, and they are all similar in a visual stance, it divided the genre players. IL does look a little plasticy to me. The fireworks can be a draw. theatrical explosions go a long way in eye candy.

I've read around and it seems AH is on top shelf for realistic FM in some pages comparisons charts. who knows <shrug> And the others tend to have lack of fight issues. AH may have the biggest melee arena.
I'm totally not into any staged events, nor buying of individual AC.

I figure a lot more left before AH3 came out and may be unaware of the changes.  A new damage model would go a long way IMO.
