Hungarian Puma
« on: June 05, 2023, 11:48:50 PM »
This skin is an adoption of Larry/TrueKill's original RHAF skin.

Bf 109G-6 operated by the 101st Home Air Defense Fighter Wing of the Royal Hungarian Air Force in the summer of 1944. Led by Major Aladár Heppes, the unit was dubbed "Puma" and its aircraft featured the red and white puma head emblem on the cowling. The "Puma" name and emblem were not attached to the unit itself, but to any unit Aladár Heppes was in command of. The 101st was merely the last in a lineage tracing its roots to 1938. This final version of the Pumas was created in the spring of 1944 to combat Allied bomber raids into Hungary from Italy. By the autumn they also began engaging Soviet forces of the 5th and 17th Air Armies as Red Army swept into Hungary from Romania.

This aircraft features full color Hungarian markings with the yellow IFF tail band and lower wing tips.
