Accusations Overload
« on: June 09, 2023, 08:21:30 AM »
Really getting tired of all the "cheat" accusations in the MA. To many immediately use that accusation anytime they get shot down or killed, just because they are too ignorant or egotistical to understand why. Any given engagement will have thousands of different plausible explanations for the outcome, besides "cheating".

If you suspect someone is in fact cheating, film it, send it to Hitech. Otherwise SHUT UP. We are running new players off with this childish behavior. I think Hitech and the Mods need to start muting/squelching on the term.

Its also very harmful to the game and retaining players, especially new ones. Chasing people away with knee-jerk accusations.

Hard to complain about numbers while chasing them away.

Yeah it gets pretty rough at times. If it wasn't for my pure love and addiction to this game it would have ran me off. Instead it made me tougher

After awhile I have come to see how pathetic those who make such accusations truly are. Sad too as I respected all of them at one point. I take great pride in sending them back to tower when I do.  :aok

Always got a kick out of being called a hack while sitting at my desk flying with a mouse and keyboard.  But yes, it's a bad look on the game for sure.

There are some people who claim every death they receive was some how nefarious. No joke folks, it’s every time.

My favorites are the people who clam in they got “one shot” in a tank even though they have been taking hits from tanks and planes the whole time. Damage modeling anyone?

Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

I'd have no problem with a 10 minute mute for mentioning cheaters in Melee.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

I'd agree if reviewed in context by a moderator, but not an automated mute like profanity.

I wondered with the state of online gaming (and the world) if hacking/cheating had made its way into AH.  Other games are full of them. I only remember one or two players to ever hack AH “back in the day.”  I haven’t seen one hackusation yet.

Prolly should not carry on the subject too far.
The point is these are baseless unproven and reckless accusation due to hurt ego. Its toxic talk here or there. The knee-jerk false accusations is annoying, harm to the game is a byproduct.

Honestly its the same handful of guys screaming cheat all the time. I really love owning some chump who is clearly lacking in skill and then they start screaming on 200 that I just pulled some impossible move when it was a trivial kill on my end. I don't pretend to be close to the best, but these guys need to realize there are people who play this game that are so much better than they are, it may appear to be cheating to them because they are ignorant of the full potential for how the game can be played. There are specialists that have had so much practice, they can pull off some amazing stuff.

Situational awareness and pure experience is the true cheat code.

Please Coogan go troll some where else. While I do get accused on occasion, it's nothing like many of the other much better players than me. The worst part is watching long time players berate a new player, when they get a kill.

These servers are controlled. It is easy to film anything suspicious, send it in. The AH film has a lot more info in it than just what you see.
