Fw 190A-5 of 7th Staffel, Schlachtgeschwader 2 on August 5th, 1943. This 190 was captured by British troops at Catania airfield on the island of Sicily. It had landed there two days prior with engine trouble and then damaged in an Allied bombing raid.
This aircraft features the white tail IFF tail band and lower wing tips of Sicilian based fighters. The prop spinner and fin cap are painted in 7th staffel's color of yellow. Sch.G. 2 also used letters for individual aircraft, not numbers, so this plane is marked with a capital "O" not a zero. The unit badge on the nose is Mickey Mouse riding a bomb while wielding an axe.
