Aye. The thing that I noticed a lot of was:

You get tangled up in a fun 1vs1, going round and round. You end up on the deck in a stall fight, barely getting angles. They guy you're fighting has friends approaching but might still have time to win this.

Suddenly a friendly pony appears! He will engage the approaching enemy fighters. You are saved! WRONG! He dives and shoots the guy that you were stallfighting on the deck and proceeds to extend for a sector while the enemy fighters show up and shoot you down since you are now low and slow.

Some call this "skill" and "SA" Whatever you call it it seems to be much more common then it used to be.

I haven't been so long time in AH but have noticed the same. Looks like there's lots of hatred against knights and it shows many ways. Like, bunch of fighters, instead of defending base under heavy pressure, rush after a bomber who has already dropped and runs back home. Just to get a kill. Bunch of fighters doing the same for a fighter, which gets engine oiled because of flak hit, just to get a kill. Losing base means nothing to them as they know two sided hording will take it back, only killing a knight counts.

I was in yesterday eastern EU time 22:00-24:00 and numbers were pretty equal, but again, no action between rooks and bish. Both attacking knights. Of course, it was again just a coincidence. Lame heroes but that's human nature in many cases.

Gunfighter mentality?
Always a need to beat the best?
When knits get focused they can take a lot of land very quickly.

The byproduct of constant gang bang of HOing, Running for cover, picking distracted pilots?
It makes them very good pilots and precise quick land grabbers. They actually train knits. Then once it gies 1-1, its easy kill time. SA and ACM is popping?

Its takes both countries to beat knits. At least the prime time shift.

Ha!
So many variables and human nature.
Not everyone plays at the same level. Some are aces some are newer. Such a mixed bag.
Frankly, and I’m sure many can verify, I usually end up 5-1 for the reason you stated. I drag 5-7 all over the place. I will also i tensionally drag em to the deck. I’m going to due because I won’t run. Why? Because points aren’t my goal. :)

When one
stops thinking of points they tend to think more strategically.
>>IMO<<

Points have pros and cons, and both keep people playing.

Said it 100 times. Heard all this stuff all through AW and AH. Its nothing new. Almost every complaint on this bbs, I heard 30 yrs ago, 20k times.

Its the nature of the beast in this style of flying.

Passion = hook in mouth

No. Defend the underdog-mentality.

That is true for Rooks and Bishops also.

I initially look at 2 things when I log on;

1. Who is closest to rolling the map.
2. Who has the most of our bases.

That pretty much determines which front I go to.

My default is to hit nit because (and I'm not mad at all at them because of it) when I log on in the early morning (US time) they've usually run a sizeable percentage of undefended bishop and/or rook bases. It's simply a function of the numbers that time of day. Even if the tide is successfully turned, if the map isn't won at some point during the day by someone else, they will likely win early the next day. There are also a couple of nit players I don't like very much, that certainly helps lol.

All three sides get double-teamed on occasion, but the nits more often than bish or rook, at least lately. Might be coincidence, but this trend seems to me to have begun a little after finetime and clone made it a habit to take HQs down? That might have something to do with it.
A bigger issue is simply the reaction when the nit numbers half after the Aussies go to bed. "Let's get our bases back!" is the thought, and once the other teams start having success against the team that so recently dominated them, the feeding frenzy builds upon itself.

IMO, you're spot on here. Neither Bish nor Rooks are going to post here and admit it. Like some do in politics, they try to equalize things to make them sound the same across the board, to minimize the real issue.

Fact is, they gang-bang Knits, more often than not, and then complain because they had to eat their own meds. They had to eat their own meds and so they do it again to retaliate against paybacks. It's clearly a consorted effort between the two countries. 6 weeks in a row is not equal, it's not even close.

And then The morning shift comes in to take it all back and make them eat their meds again.

Another point, it's not just a gang-bang it's a LOT of 20k, every one of them will HO you every time, and if you do get into a fight, another will come snap you while you're distracted in a fight. It's really just a real POS way to play. And these are not newbies. Many of those trying to make it appear equal because they are part of it.

OTOH, If they are not gang-banging they only fight each other. There is NO medium.

I don't want to hear the whining about HQs. If that's the punishment, then take it, they brought it on themselves. Like I said before. if I had the man power I'd take both of their HQs down and then slaughter what could fly.

I've set up my own rules,.. HOed 3-4 times in a row,.. Log-off....which actually plays to their benefit, but, if it's not fun it's not fun.
We have people who do nothing but HOs, and then once in a real 1-1 they run like hell to their friends.

IMO the conclusion is, Knits are just better pilots and that's the others way of wining against them.
A lot of these guys who have high scores, get there by picking already distracted pilots, they are not 1-1 fights. Another reason I pay no attention to points, how they are acquired is what speaks for them.

That said, lets not conflate morning shift with prime-time shift, two different crowds.

It's a game
It's a War
a lot of dweebery will happen, and does.

it is what it is, they will simply excuse their way out of it. <shrug>

And I don't want to hear the whining about the doubleteam. If that's your punishment for taking down HQs, you brought on yourselves lol.

One of the contentions of my post is that the HQ crew helped lead to the current preference to attack the knights. The HQ focus predates the nit focus.

And more players stop playing because of that, even better?

Huge amounts of fun is to be had defending your HQ and even a blind man can track a hq run.

If i return, expect tons of action at rear fields.

You might even have a successful me163 mission.

^ Pretty normal, yes. That's why I consider retirement from AH. At least some individuals will be pleased.

Not sure what the issue is? Last night had great fights on all the fronts. When I hit on around 8PM EST, us Rooks were trying to close out the map up north, which had to be defended first because we were being attacked by Nits. Bosh were rolling is on the south side and we slowed that down but they kept coming steadily all night. When I left around 11PM we had I think 18% Not and couldn’t make any headway on the Bish.

Most of the strats were 100% for everyone expect a few and eny was pretty stable. The game worked exactly has it should in my opinion and and it was a good night.

Trying to finish off a country to win the map is hoarding or whatever the problem is.

Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!
