Placing objects in exact locations on a terrain.
« on: June 14, 2024, 10:17:27 AM »
Thought it might be interesting to put a few revetments in defensive positions near a base.  The problem was to find suitable locations on the terrain then find that exact location in the TE.

Discovered a dot command that would report the position of a vehicle in the terrain, ".placeobj".  So, in Offline Practice (it only works offline) I can drive a vehicle to the location where I want the revetment and execute ".placeobj" which will show the exact X and Y coordinates of my current position.  Then in the TE, enter those coordinates when placing the revetment.  Presto!

Probably other uses for ".placeobj" but just started experimenting with it.

In the text buffer, type ".help" for a list of all the dot commands.
