HTC’s Space Game
« on: July 28, 2024, 12:30:47 PM »
Am I the only one that remembers HTC’s space game from way back when or am I having a flashback to something else?

Very well could have been. I did switch to AH from WB as soon as it was available. Maybe Hitech wrote the code for the space game and that is where the confusion is on my part. That was decades ago. Anyway, it just popped in my head.

Yeah there was.  Can't remember the name.

They had Dawn of Aces too, i.e. WWI

[Edit]

Planetary Raiders I think.

It was in the ICI days.

Pre-Wild Bill. ;)

Later renamed Raider Wars.

That’s it! Thanks for jogging my memory. Can’t believe it’s been about 30 years since I’ve got addicted to these types of games!

Seems like AOL killed everything they touched back then.
I started out on INN playing Red Barron. AOL eventually bought
it and it died.

The game was first built as "Planetary Raiders", sort of like an elite game but was changed to "Raider Wars" which was much more like Warbirds (WB).

Heres how it looks in software rendering mode (it supports 3D as well).

The only remnants of the space game in AH is the Yak3, with its unique resistance to damage  :D
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

I mean if HTC did a reboot of that with current graphics and VR, I bet it would do at least as good a War Online: Pacific.

That was fun creating that. iMagic pulling the plug was one of the reasons we parted ways.
